Aldi's fall price cuts, effective Sept. 23 through Nov. 3, target produce and chicken and are expected to save shoppers about $86 million as value competition intensifies.

Aldi expects its latest round of price cuts to save shoppers about $86 million this fall. The reductions, which took effect Sept. 23 and run through at least Nov. 3, focus on fresh produce and chicken as the discounter pushes prices on nearly one-third of its everyday in-store assortment below year-ago levels.
The cuts concentrate on fresh foods. The list includes Autumncrisp grapes, Bartlett pears, Brussels sprouts, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, fresh herbs, garlic, French beans and several varieties of apples and potatoes.
Honeycrisp apples now sell for $1.99 per pound at Aldi — a 35% decrease from last year and the chain's lowest everyday price for the variety in more than five years. Kirkwood chicken breast family packs dropped to $1.99 per pound as well, which Aldi said is its lowest everyday price for that product since 2022.
The fall reductions build on price cuts the grocer has already made across hundreds of products compared with 2025. Those earlier markdowns cover ground and organic whole bean coffee, mixed nuts, dried fruit, paper towels, Elevation ready-to-drink protein shakes and Choceur chocolate.
Aldi's decision to spotlight produce and lean protein comes as consumers keep a close watch on grocery spending and retailers compete on value. The company estimates its prices save U.S. shoppers $10.2 billion overall, though that figure rests on Aldi's own analysis.
The price moves accompany rapid expansion of the chain's U.S. footprint. Aldi now operates more than 2,600 stores nationwide and continues to add locations as it works to reach more shoppers.
For brands and retailers competing for value-focused grocery dollars, the signal is clear: the discounter is pairing sustained price investment with physical growth, a combination likely to sharpen pressure on conventional grocers through the holiday season.
