Costco launched nationwide on DoorDash on Sept. 17, opening same-day delivery from local warehouses to U.S. members through the last-mile platform. The rollout puts more than 4,000 Costco products on DoorDash, from groceries and pantry staples to electronics and Kirkland Signature items.
The U.S. debut extends a partnership that already served Costco members in Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Iceland and Puerto Rico. It also landed in the same week that Costco and Uber Eats rolled out new ordering options in the U.S.
Costco ranks No. 7 in Digital Commerce 360's Top 2000 Database of North America's largest online retailers by annual ecommerce sales, and stands as the fourth-largest Mass Merchant in that database.
Why Costco matters to DoorDash
Demand drove the deal from both sides of the platform. "Costco members have been asking for Costco on DoorDash, and today we're delivering," said Mike Goldblatt, vice president of enterprise partnerships at DoorDash. "By pairing Costco's quality, value and selection with DoorDash's reach and local delivery network, we're giving members more flexibility in how they shop."
DoorDash also pointed to its own user base: the company said Costco "ranked among the most-searched retailers not yet available on DoorDash."
"The U.S. launch also marks the next chapter in a global partnership already serving Costco members around the world," Goldblatt stated.
How the ordering works
U.S.-based Costco members search for the retailer in the DoorDash app and enter their Costco membership information to complete transactions. DoorDash users who are not Costco members will see information on how to sign up.
The assortment covers groceries, household essentials, electronics, seasonal merchandise and Kirkland Signature products, all available for same-day delivery from local Costco warehouse locations.
What Costco gains
Costco CEO Ron Vachris told investors during a May earnings call that same-day delivery from third-party partners had "become a highly effective way to deliver more convenience" to members. Costco also works with Instacart and Uber Eats alongside DoorDash.
The delivery push tracks a growing online grocery market. Sales increased by at least 20% year over year in the six consecutive quarters through Q1 2026, according to analysis by Brick Meets Click.
For DoorDash, the Costco launch adds one of retail's most-searched brands to its U.S. catalog — and gives Costco a third major third-party delivery channel as online grocery growth keeps running at 20%-plus.
