RaceTrac Launches Trac Media Group Retail Media Network
RaceTrac's Trac Media Group starts at 600-plus c-stores, leveraging fuel-pump, checkout and loyalty touchpoints, with expansion plans spanning Gulf and Potbelly sites.

At a glance
- RaceTrac launched Trac Media Group on Tuesday, initially covering 600-plus RaceTrac-branded locations.
- Full expansion could reach 850-plus RaceTrac/RaceWay c-stores, about 1,200 Gulf sites and 445-plus Potbellys.
- Trac Media Group integrates the RaceTrac Rewards loyalty program, updated earlier this year with offer stacking.
- 7-Eleven, Circle K and Casey's General Stores all already operate retail media networks.
- LoopConnect Media, Weigel's Milk Crate and Love's Media Group all launched within roughly the past year.
RaceTrac launched its own retail media network, Trac Media Group, the company announced Tuesday, joining a c-store segment that now counts even regional operators among its ad-network builders.
The network will initially run brand integrations at the company's 600-plus RaceTrac-branded locations, with long-term plans to expand to RaceWay, Potbelly and Gulf sites, according to the announcement. If the buildout covers all of RaceTrac's companies, the network could eventually span more than 850 RaceTrac and RaceWay c-stores, roughly 1,200 Gulf-branded locations and more than 445 Potbelly restaurants. That's a footprint approaching 2,500 sites. Not trivial.
What does Trac Media Group actually sell?
The network lets CPGs and other advertisers "to plan, buy and measure campaigns in one place," according to the announcement. It connects touchpoints shoppers already encounter, spanning digital channels and in-store placements like fuel pumps and checkout.
The network also plugs into RaceTrac Rewards, the loyalty program the company updated earlier this year with offer stacking, combined deals and more tailored promotions. Loyalty data is the fuel here. Everything else is distribution.
Jamie Miller, vice president of marketing for RaceTrac Convenience Retail, framed the pitch around habit rather than reach. "RaceTrac is part of our guests' daily routine," Miller said. "Trac Media Group is built on that frequency. It gives brands a way to show up in those everyday moments with something genuinely useful to the guests most likely to act on it."
Frequency is the honest differentiator. A gas station visit is a small basket but a repeated one, and repeated visits generate the behavioral signal advertisers pay for.
Why is c-store retail media accelerating now?
Retail media has been slowly gaining steam across the convenience industry over the past several years, and it gives retailers an additional revenue stream at a time when store traffic has slowed, according to the announcement. Ad dollars offset soft foot traffic. That arithmetic is driving the sector.
The three largest c-store operators in the U.S. — 7-Eleven, Circle K and Casey's General Stores — already run retail media networks. The trend has since spread well beyond the giants:
- Loop Neighborhood Market launched LoopConnect Media.
- Weigel's rolled out its Milk Crate retail media network.
- Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores introduced Love's Media Group.
All three were announced over roughly the past year, putting RaceTrac in fast company rather than early company.
What does this change for brands?
For CPG marketers, Trac Media Group adds a frequency-rich, forecourt-adjacent channel to the consideration set — one where loyalty data can target the guests most likely to act, in Miller's words. For RaceTrac, it converts routine visits into margin at a moment when traffic needs the help. Expect the Gulf and Potbelly expansion, if it lands, to turn a regional network into a multi-banner one.
