Lowe's Launches Drone Delivery in 20 Minutes With Wing and DoorDash
Lowe's says it is the first home improvement retailer to offer drone delivery, flying 100+ SKUs to customers in as fast as 20 minutes via Wing and DoorDash.

At a glance
- Lowe's is the first home improvement retailer to offer drone delivery for online orders, in partnership with Alphabet's Wing and DoorDash.
- Drone deliveries arrive in as fast as 20 minutes from the Lowe's store in Matthews, North Carolina, covering a curated list of more than 100 SKUs.
- Lowe's AI assistants Mylow and Mylow Companion have answered more than 25 million customer and associate questions since launching in 2025.
Lowe's says it has become the first home improvement retailer to offer drone delivery for online orders, working with Alphabet's Wing and DoorDash to get select products to DIY and Pro customers in as fast as 20 minutes.
The pilot is live now at the Lowe's store in Matthews, North Carolina. It adds to the retailer's same-day fulfillment lineup, which already includes buy online, pick up in store (BOPIS), curbside pickup and same-day delivery, the retailer said.
Lowe's ranks No. 9 in the Digital Commerce 360 Top 1000 Database, which tracks North America's largest online retailers by annual ecommerce sales. The retailer also holds the No. 90 spot in Digital Commerce 360's new AI Rankings, part of the Top 1000 Pro with AI Database.
How the drone delivery works
Consumers order Lowe's products through the DoorDash app, and Wing drones fly the packages to their destinations. The initial pilot covers what Lowe's calls "a curated list of eligible products" — more than 100 SKUs in total. Eligible items include:
- All-purpose cleaner
- Caulk
- Hand tools
- Household batteries
- Paint products such as painter's tape
- Screwdrivers
- Soap
Lowe's said it is testing last-mile fulfillment by using its physical stores as hubs for staging drone dispatch areas. The process integrates DoorDash's third-party marketplace demand into specialized drone delivery, according to the retailer.
Building on a broader tech push
Lowe's framed the drone pilot as part of a wider effort to use technology to remove friction from home improvement. The company pointed to Mylow, its AI assistant for customers, and Mylow Companion, its AI-powered assistant for store associates, as recent innovations. Together, the two assistants have answered more than 25 million questions since launching in 2025, according to Lowe's.
"Home improvement is an inherently friction-filled experience," said Seemantini Godbole, chief information and AI officer at Lowe's. "Any technology we implement is designed to eliminate that friction so our customers can complete their projects quickly. By piloting drone delivery, we're addressing a real project pain point with an innovative solution that is integrated into the retail journey, giving our hometown customers next-generation fulfillment right when they need it."
The Matthews pilot will test whether store-based drone dispatch can scale as a same-day option alongside BOPIS and curbside pickup. For now, more than 100 SKUs and one store define the limits of the fastest fulfillment method Lowe's has ever offered.
