At a glance

  • Aldi's ready-made meals launch in select markets in early October, with nationwide availability expected by January 2027.
  • Single-serving meals are priced below $8 and contain 30-46 grams of protein; family-size meals are under $15 with 16-22 grams of protein per serving.
  • Supplier Kitchen Food Company tested hundreds of recipes; Aldi will add new ready-made meals monthly over the next year.

Aldi will introduce a line of fresh, ready-made meals in October, with single-serving prices below $8 and family-size meals under $15.

The initial lineup includes five single-serve meals: beef bolognese spaghetti, beef brisket with white macaroni and cheese, butter chicken and rice, chicken burrito bowl, and chicken fettuccine Alfredo. Two family-size options — chicken and bacon macaroni and cheese and a meat lovers' pizza bake — round out the launch assortment.

The meals will reach select markets in early October, with additional stores added throughout the fall, according to the company. Aldi expects the full lineup to be available nationwide by January 2027.

The protein content positions the line against fast-casual competitors. Single-serving meals contain between 30 and 46 grams of protein, Aldi said, while family-size meals contain between 16 and 22 grams per serving. Ingredients include chicken breast, smoked beef brisket and cheese.

Terry Jackson, head of food at Kitchen Food Company, an Aldi supplier of the meals, said the development process was extensive.

"We tested hundreds of recipes as we developed this collection, with quality as our top standard from the very beginning," Jackson said.

Joan Kavanaugh, Aldi U.S. vice president of national buying, said the retailer built the line around shopper demand for convenience at value prices.

"Our shoppers are looking for meals that fit into busy lives without sacrificing quality or stretching their budgets," Kavanaugh said.

Aldi grounded the launch in consumer data. The company cited a 2026 survey by the International Food Information Council that found 61% of Americans consider convenience a top consideration when purchasing food.

The rollout will not stop at seven items. Aldi said additional ready-made meals are expected to be introduced monthly over the next year, signaling a sustained prepared-food push rather than a limited seasonal play.

For a discounter long associated with shelf-stable and refrigerated basics, the move into fresh prepared meals puts Aldi in closer competition with grocers and convenience players that have invested heavily in grab-and-go programs. The sub-$8 single-serve price point undercuts most fast-casual entrées while delivering restaurant-style dishes such as butter chicken and brisket mac and cheese.

If the monthly cadence holds, Aldi will enter 2027 with a substantially larger prepared-food assortment than the October debut suggests — and a national footprint to match.
